Golf Meditation is a work in progress of the School of Wisdom. We anticipate this web, and a book on Golf Meditation, will be completed in 2003 or 2004.
Thereafter we plan to offer golf meditation training programs based on these ideas. In the meantime this web explains the basic premise of Golf Meditation. If you are already a golfer, it can help you to transform your game, to charge it with meaning and connectivity to your inner depths. Oddly enough, this will probably also improve your game! It will certainly make it more enjoyable. You'll be able to relax and concentrate better on the golf course, and more easily attain "present moment awareness" - the place where the perfect swing happens, and past mistakes are behind you. If you are already a meditator, but not a golfer, it can help you to take up the game as a joyful extension of your spiritual practices.
This web also provides a bibliography of the books we are studying to prepare Golf Meditation. Sure, Golf in the Kingdom by Michael Murphy is a good start and inspiration to us all, but there is a large library of additional texts out there.

Golf Concentration is a sister web we are developing at the same time. It focuses on the art of Concentration and techniques. Concentration is considered by most golf professionals to be the key skill for playing golf, and yet it is almost never taught. This web will be oriented towards golfers only, and have less theory and more practical "how-to" advice on golf course concentration. The web features the use of PrimaSounds as golf concentration music, and other techniques for falling into the "Zone".
As a service to golf philosophers everywhere, we offer here, for free, the full online text of one of the classic books in this area: The Mystery of Golf by Arnold Haultain. Written in 1908 this popular book by a Canadian golfer sets the stage for our current work-in-progress.
If you are interested in this project, want to share your thoughts with us, any experiences you've had with golf/meditation, or perhaps you'd like to set up a round of golf with one of our diligent researchers,
send us an email.
